Careers Advice

We strongly believe that our students should all have access to high quality careers education, advice and guidance through all years and particularly at key transition times to explore the full range of opportunities available to them.

At Langham Oaks, we provide a wide range of careers support and activities. Our careers programme includes:

  • 1-1 and small group careers guidance –
  • Students from Key Stage 4 groups are provided with a guidance interview from, our independent and impartial Preparing for Adulthood Adviser for Children & Young People with Disabilities Ru Riddleston. Ru can explore ideas and support with researching options. All students are offered a guidance interview in Year 11 to support with post 16 choices.
  • Students will be supported in preparing for these meetings by Langham Oaks staff member Sarah Delfay-Aubrey who coordinated careers in school.

Work Experience Opportunities - Regular and Ongoing

A number of our Key Stage 4 students undertake regular work experience days in the local community, Opportunities are varied and are subject to risk assessment and liability insurance.

Other activities:

In addition to the above, our PSHE programme includes a wide range of careers, information, advice and guidance across all year groups. Whole year groups are involved in a range of activities including careers research and action planning, CV writing, covering letters and interview skills.

We also offer targeted activities such as visiting guest speakers from different vocational areas and employers, Further Education visits and talks.
