Langham Oaks School have been running a basketball team for over 20 years coached by Fay Greaves. Their current cohort of players have been using the facilities at the University of Essex’s prestigious venue for almost 2 years, which cost £12 million and opened in February 2018. Our pupils were one of the first players to grace this magnificent arena.

The boys practise every Thursday morning for 2 hours with coach Harriet Welham, who is also the Captain of Ipswich Basketball Club in the WNBL Division 1.

This year is a first for our team being invited to compete in the Yr10 mainstream league for North East Essex Schools. This is a huge achievement for a SEMH school that only has 69 pupils on roll. The squad will be made up from Yr10s and Yr9s predominantly. The season will ‘tip off’ on 9th December against Stanway School.

Fay, who is also the Pastoral Manager at Langham Oaks, says “This accomplishment is testament to the amount of hard work the boys have put in over the last few years and we hope they give it their best shot!”
