15th December 2020
Please take note of the arrangements for contacting your school after the term ends for pupils on 17th December. This is very important information and you should keep it close to hand in case you need it.
If your child develops symptoms of Covid -19:
• A new and persistent cough
• A temperature
• A loss or change of taste or smell
Then you should ensure they get tested as quickly as possible. The quickest way to get a test is to by attending a local testing site. Results are usually returned within 24 hours.
Please contact this number: 01245 963005, which will be staffed by the SEAX central team, from 9-12 each day, to inform us if:
a) your child developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in school or college, and
b) your child receives a positive test result up to and including Wednesday 23 December
DO NOT CONTACT YOUR CHILD’S SCHOOL DIRECTLY AS NO ONE WILL BE THERE TO PICK UP YOUR CALL
These arrangements apply between 18th December and the 23rd of December only. After these dates please contact NHS Test and Trace directly.
If you call, we will want to know the following information:
We will then work with the Headteacher of your child’s school to track and contact anyone from the school community who had contact with your child and arrange for them to self- isolate for ten days.
We are taking this approach to try to ensure that our headteachers who have worked tirelessly since the pandemic started can have a well-deserved break over Christmas as far as possible. I know you would want to join me in thanking them and the staff of our schools for their service and commitment.
I hope you have a happy Christmas holiday and a safe and healthy 2021.
